May 6, 2021 - Updates for Members

CDA Board Nominations are Open!

The Canadian Dam Association depends on volunteers to lead the Association by serving on the Board of Directors. Nominations for vacant positions on the Board are being accepted until August 23, 2021.

The Board of Directors sets the Association’s strategy; identifies and provides the resources necessary to implement the strategic initiatives; provides oversight to staff and committees; ensures the protection of members’ rights, and oversees compliance with relevant legislation. The Directors each have a personal fiduciary responsibility to ensure the CDA’s resources are used appropriately.

Elections are held annually to fill open positions on the Board. The following positions need to be filled for terms beginning at the 2021 Annual General Meeting:

All directors are expected to attend and participate in regular virtual meetings and two semi-annual in-person meetings. Some financial support is available for attendance at in-person meetings. They also participate on or lead task groups and/or committees and may be called upon to help organize local events.

For more information regarding the duties of the Board members, please contact the Chair of the Nominations Committee, Catrin Bryan, at nominations@cda.ca; your current provincial/territorial director, or Executive Director, Joy Morassutti, at executive.director@cda.ca.  To see a listing of current directors and their contact information, please visit the CDA website.

Nomination information

You must be a current member of the CDA to be eligible to be nominated. Your nomination must be made and seconded by two current members of the CDA. We would also ask that you include with the nomination a short description of your background and engagement with the CDA or other volunteer-based organizations.

The Nomination Form is available from the Governance page of this web site as well as a description the role and responsibility of Regional Directors.

These volunteer positions are excellent opportunities to contribute to your association and the Canadian dam industry. The current Board urges members to consider which of their colleagues would be excellent candidates for the available positions and to make nominations.

We welcome the participation from every CDA member in the 2021 Board nomination process.

Yours sincerely,

Joy Morassutti
Executive Director
