Ontario – Bill 71 Building More Mines Act, 2023
On May 18, 2023, a number of legislative amendments to the province’s Mining Act received Royal Assent through Bill 71. While the legislative and future regulatory amendments include changes to the mine closure planning process, it is unclear at this time whether these changes will have direct regulatory implications for mine tailings and dam related approvals in Ontario.
