Canada – Proposed Framework for Clean Electricity Regulations
The federal government has launched another phase of its consultation on Canada’s proposed net-zero electricity system, by posting a proposed framework for the consideration of federal regulations. This proposed framework and the opportunity to participate in consultation will be of interest to CDA dam owners with hydro electric facilities.

Nova Scotia – Touquoy Gold Mine
As evidence that almost all provincial and territorial governments in Canada review complex mine tailings related facilities and often rely upon Canadian Dam Association technical guidance for approvals, the Province of Nova Scotia recently posted its August 2022 decision on a proposal to revise the mine tailings related facilities supporting the Touquoy Gold Mine.
The regulatory approval is publicly posted to the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment website.
