CDA releases new Strategic Plan
After months of preparation, the Canadian Dam Association has released its strategic plan for 2024-2027. The document outlines five strategic themes with corresponding objectives, and 10 general initiatives.
“CDA’s Strategy 2024 builds on themes that have been central to CDA since its founding. In the spirit of continual improvement towards our unchanged mission, the strategic objectives and initiatives are outlined below to provide direction for CDA’s activities over the next three years,” the document says.
Annual plans will be prepared and managed incorporating the strategic themes and objectives, with extensive collaboration among the committees.
The five themes and objectives are:
- Technical Knowledge and Guidance: “CDA will continue to develop and document knowledge and guidance related to dams, with consideration of society’s evolving values and expectations.”
- Member and Stakeholder Engagement: “CDA will actively engage members and stakeholders by reinforcing and promoting CDA’s resources and value proposition, encouraging responsible practices and management of dams.”
- Professional Development: “CDA will facilitate transfer of technical knowledge and guidance through workshops, engagement in communities of interest, annual conferences, and other professional development events.”
- International Relations: “CDA will continue to represent Canada on the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) and in other international activities.
- Governance and Effective Operations: “CDA will have a governance structure, business model, and operational procedures that are effective and efficient in serving the mission and objectives of the Association.”
