Surveillance is an effective way to maintain the safety and integrity of a dam that requires experienced personnel as well as the application of state of the art tools and techniques. Surveillance of dams generally incudes visual inspections and instrumentation and monitoring. It also requires an effective documentation practice and follow up mechanisms to address any actual or potential dam safety issues in a timely manner. This webinar will elaborate the current best practices on these elements of a dam surveillance program along with a case study of Dickson Dam instrumentations review. The learning goals for the participants include familiarity with the best practises (per CDA, ICOLD, etc.), knowledge on the state of the art instrumentation and monitoring techniques, and lessons learned from the case study.
