The need for provision of upstream fish passage has been recognized by regulators and dam owners as an important element of the design of new dams and water retaining structures or as part of the rehabilitation works of existing aging infrastructure. Nature-like fishways have been successfully implemented, particularly in the Canadian prairies, for many years. Using case studies, this workshop will provide an overview of the purpose, design, construction, and performance of nature-like fishways.
Preliminary Agenda:
Ambroise Percheron (KGS Group)
Jeff Sereda (Water Security Agency)
Design engineers, aquatic biologists, dam owners, regulators involved in the design and/or permitting of dams where fish passage is a requirement.
Workshops provided in conjunction with the 2025 CDA Conference in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Sept 28-Oct 1, 2025)
