This one-day workshop on Dams and Public Safety has been developed to provide training on the management of public safety, based on the methodologies presented in CDA’s 2011 Guidelines for Public Safety Around Dams.
The elements of a public safety management system will be presented, using case studies to illustrate practical applications of the CDA Guidelines. Methods for risk identification and treatment will be presented, including warning systems, physical and operational controls. The program for the day will cover:
• Context of Dams and Public Safety
• Public Safety Management System
• Roles and Responsibilities
• Public Safety Risk Assessment
• Risk Treatment
• Continuous Improvement – Completing the Managed System
The instructors are knowledgeable and experienced applying the CDA methodologies and materials. Classes are limited in size to maximize participation, and case studies are addressed in small working groups.
