The French-language edition of the Technical Bulletin: Application of Dam Safety Guidelines to Mining Dams (2019) is now available for viewing on-line (members only) and for purchase.
The CDA Mining Dams Committee prepared this revision to incorporate significant changes to the 2014 edition, especially the section entitled “Dam Safety Management”. The new approach is closer to that used for water dams in the revised Dam Safety Guidelines, while recognizing that many mining dams need to function indefinitely.
This revision also introduced the Engineer of Record (EOR) concept and discussed how design criteria should be modified to account for a very long service interval and that potential consequences to the Owner also need to be considered when establishing design criteria and surveillance programs.
